Compress PDF

Make a PDF small enough for email, forms and uploads.

Most big PDFs are big because of the photos and scans inside. This tool shrinks only those images and leaves text, fonts and vector graphics as they are, so the text stays sharp and you can still select and search it.

Recommended is a good start for email and upload forms. Strong goes further for a 2 MB or 5 MB limit. Extreme saves every page as an image and gives the smallest file, but text can no longer be selected.

Your PDFs are processed inside your browser with pdf-lib and pdf.js. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, so it is safe for contracts, invoices, IDs and anything private.

How it works

  1. Drop your files Or tap to choose them. Several at once where it makes sense.
  2. Pick the options Pages, order, size or format, depending on the tool.
  3. Save Click the button, then save the new file.

FAQ

How much smaller will my PDF get?

It depends on what is inside. Scans and PDFs full of photos often shrink by 50 to 90 percent. A PDF that is only text is usually already small, then the tool tells you there is nothing left to save.

Will the text get blurry?

No, with Light, Recommended and Strong only the pictures are re-compressed. Text and lines are not touched. Only Extreme turns pages into images.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The compression runs on your device, in your browser. That is why it is safe for contracts, bank statements and ID scans.

Are my PDFs uploaded?

No. Everything happens on your device; the files never reach our server.

Is there a limit?

No page or file limit from us. Very large PDFs need enough free memory on your device.

Can it open password protected PDFs?

No. Remove the password in your PDF viewer first, then use the tool.

Is it free?

Yes. No account, no watermark, no daily limit.
