FAQ
Why is 1080p sometimes a separate download from the audio?
YouTube delivers video above 720p as separate video and audio streams. We merge them for you, which is why the download takes a few seconds longer.
Is 4K supported?
Yes, when the video was uploaded in 4K. H.264 is not always available at 4K, in that case you get VP9 in MP4 which plays in Chrome, Safari 17+, VLC and most editors.
How long can the video be?
Up to 60 minutes.
Is this really free?
Yes. Every tool on Shortform Kit is free, with no account, no watermark and no daily limit for normal use. We run it on our own server and keep costs low on purpose.
Do you store my files or links?
No. The file is created for you, kept for 15 minutes so you can save it, then deleted automatically. We don't log which links you paste.
Which content is allowed?
Only public posts. Private accounts, stories that need a login and age-restricted videos don't work, and we never ask for your password. Download only content you have the right to use.
