LUFS Meter

Drop an audio or video file and get integrated loudness, true peak and the exact gain change each platform needs. Nothing is uploaded.

Streaming platforms turn loud tracks down and quiet ones up to a target, usually -14 LUFS integrated. If your mix is far off, you lose punch or get a noisy boost. This meter measures your file the same way they do, following ITU-R BS.1770-4 with K-weighting and gating, and tells you how many dB to add or remove for each platform.

It also estimates true peak, so you know whether raising the level would clip. Video files work too; the audio track is read directly in your browser.

How it works

  1. Drop your file WAV, MP3, M4A, AAC, MP4 or MOV.
  2. Read the numbers Integrated loudness, true peak, max short-term and momentary loudness.
  3. Adjust your mix Apply the listed gain, and use a limiter if the peak warning appears.

FAQ

What LUFS should I master to for Instagram and TikTok?

Neither publishes an official target, but both normalise around -14 LUFS like YouTube and Spotify. Delivering -14 LUFS integrated with peaks at -1 dBTP is a safe choice.

What is the difference between LUFS and dB?

dB peak shows the loudest single sample. LUFS measures perceived loudness over time, weighted the way the ear hears. Two files with the same peak can differ by 10 LU in loudness.

How accurate is this meter?

Integrated loudness follows BS.1770-4 exactly and matches professional meters within about 0.1 LU. True peak is a 4x oversampled estimate and can differ by a few tenths of a dB.

Is my file uploaded?

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser. The file is read on your device and never sent to our server, so it also works with unreleased or private material.
