Most transcription tools make you upload the file, then stop after 10 free minutes. Here you paste the link of a public video, we fetch only the audio and run it through Whisper, the open speech recognition model by OpenAI, on our own server. You get readable paragraphs to copy, and the same text as SRT and VTT subtitles with timestamps.
The language is detected automatically. You can also translate the speech straight to English, or transcribe only a section of a long video. Limit: 20 minutes of audio per transcript.

FAQ
How accurate is it?
We use Whisper small, which reaches roughly 90 to 95 percent word accuracy on clear speech in major languages. Music, heavy accents or several people talking at once lower it.
Which languages work?
Whisper recognises over 90 languages, including English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Turkish, Polish, Hindi, Japanese and Arabic.
How long does it take?
Roughly as long as the audio itself, sometimes less. A short Reel is usually done in under a minute, a 10-minute video can take several minutes. It runs on our own CPU server, one transcript at a time, so at busy moments you may wait in line.
Is there a length limit?
20 minutes of audio per transcript. For longer videos, use Only a section and transcribe in parts.
Is this really free?
Yes. Every tool on Shortform Kit is free, with no account, no watermark and no daily limit for normal use. We run it on our own server and keep costs low on purpose.
Do you store my files or links?
No. The file is created for you, kept for 15 minutes so you can save it, then deleted automatically. We don't log which links you paste.
Which content is allowed?
Only public posts. Private accounts, stories that need a login and age-restricted videos don't work, and we never ask for your password. Download only content you have the right to use.
