YouTube Money Calculator

Pick your niche and slide to your monthly views. You get a realistic range of what YouTube ads pay you, not one inflated number.

Most YouTube calculators multiply views by a single CPM and show a number nobody earns. The figure that matters to a creator is RPM: what you keep per 1000 views after YouTube takes its 45 percent share and after views without ads. This calculator uses RPM ranges by niche that creators reported for 2026 (sources: OutlierKit, Crunch).

The spread is large. Finance and business channels report 15 to 30 dollars per 1000 views, gaming and entertainment 1 to 3 dollars. Shorts pay far less: typically 3 to 10 cents per 1000 views, because the ad money is pooled and shared across all Shorts. Audience country matters too, which is why you can pick where your viewers live.

Treat the result as a range for planning. Your own RPM is in YouTube Studio under Analytics, Revenue. Sponsorships, memberships and affiliate links usually add more than ads for small and mid-size channels and are not included here.

How it works

  1. Pick your niche Choose the closest topic, or YouTube Shorts if most of your views are Shorts.
  2. Slide to your monthly views Use the last 28 days from YouTube Studio for a fair number.
  3. Adjust the CPM if you know it The slider starts at a typical value for your niche. Move it right if your viewers are mainly in the US or Europe.

FAQ

What is the difference between CPM and RPM?

CPM is what advertisers pay per 1000 ad impressions. RPM is what you earn per 1000 views after YouTube's share and after views without ads. RPM is usually 40 to 60 percent of CPM.

How much does YouTube pay for 1 million views?

For long videos roughly 1000 to 15000 dollars depending on niche and audience country. For Shorts roughly 30 to 100 dollars.

When can I start earning?

With the YouTube Partner Program: today 1000 subscribers plus 4000 watch hours in 12 months, or 10 million Shorts views in 90 days. YouTube announced that from 1 February 2027 new channels need 8000 watch hours in 365 days or 20 million Shorts views in 90 days (existing partners keep their status). Source: YouTube Help, Changes to the YouTube Partner Program.

Why is my RPM lower than this?

Common reasons: many viewers from low-CPM countries, short videos with fewer ad slots, a young audience, or a slow ad month like January.
