Built by a video editor for editors: subtitles with timestamps per spoken phrase, ready to import. SRT works in every editing app and on YouTube, VTT is the web standard. Both come in one ZIP together with a plain text transcript.
Timestamps refer to the original video. If you transcribe only a section, the times still match the full video, so the file lines up when you place the clip.
How it works
- Paste the video link Any public video on a supported platform.
- Choose Transcript Pick the language or translate to English.
- Import the SRT Premiere: File, Import. Resolve: drag onto a subtitle track. CapCut: Captions, Import.
FAQ
Which format should I use?
SRT for editing apps and YouTube, VTT for websites and HTML5 players. You get both.
How long are the subtitle lines?
One line per spoken phrase as Whisper segments it, typically 3 to 8 seconds. Adjust line length in your editor if you need shorter captions.
Can I upload my own file instead of a link?
Not yet. Paste a link to a public or unlisted YouTube video as a workaround.
Is this really free?
Yes. Every tool on Shortform Kit is free, with no account, no watermark and no daily limit for normal use. We run it on our own server and keep costs low on purpose.
Do you store my files or links?
No. The file is created for you, kept for 15 minutes so you can save it, then deleted automatically. We don't log which links you paste.
Which content is allowed?
Only public posts. Private accounts, stories that need a login and age-restricted videos don't work, and we never ask for your password. Download only content you have the right to use.
