YouTube Thumbnail Checker
Upload your thumbnail and see it the way viewers see it, then compare it with this week's most-clicked thumbnails in your niche.
Most thumbnails are designed full screen and viewed at the size of a stamp. This checker shows yours in a mock YouTube feed in light and dark mode, at the real mobile size of 168 × 94 pixels, with the timestamp that YouTube puts in the bottom-right corner. It then measures faces, text, brightness and colours and compares them with the top thumbnails of the week in the niche you choose.
No AI writes opinions about your image. You get measurements and a comparison, and you decide.
How it works
- Upload your thumbnail JPG, PNG or WebP, ideally 1280 × 720 or larger.
- Pick your niche Gaming, vlogs, fitness, finance, cooking, tech, travel, education, podcasts or beauty.
- Read the checks Fix what is flagged, for example text under the timestamp or text too small for phones.
FAQ
Is my thumbnail stored?
No. It is analysed in memory on our server and discarded immediately. Nothing is saved or shown to anyone.
What size should a YouTube thumbnail be?
1280 × 720 pixels (16:9), under 2 MB. Design so the key element still reads at 168 × 94.
Does the timestamp really cover my thumbnail?
Yes, in the bottom-right corner on every feed and search result. Keep text and faces out of roughly the last 18% of width and height there.
