Engagement Rate Calculator

Enter likes, comments, shares and saves. You get the engagement rate and how it compares to accounts of your size.

Engagement rate is the number brands and agencies look at first. The standard formula adds likes, comments, shares and saves and divides by followers. For TikTok and YouTube this calculator divides by views instead, because most people who watch there don't follow you, so follower-based rates look far worse than they are.

A good rate depends on size. Small accounts get more engagement per follower than big ones. The benchmarks used here come from 2026 industry reports (sources: IQFluence, Social Champ): around 5 percent below 1000 followers, about 2.4 percent between 10K and 50K, and below 1 percent above 1 million.

FAQ

What is a good engagement rate on Instagram?

Around 2 to 4 percent for accounts between 5K and 50K followers. Small accounts often reach 5 percent or more, very large accounts usually stay below 1.5 percent.

Should I include saves and shares?

Yes. Instagram's own ranking treats shares and saves as strong signals, often stronger than likes. Leave a field empty if you don't have the number.

Why are views used for TikTok?

On TikTok most views come from the For You feed, from people who don't follow you. Per-view engagement is the fairer comparison and what most brands ask for.

Can I check someone else's account?

Yes, with the public numbers on their posts. Saves and shares are only visible to the owner, so leave them empty.
